The Lodge at Ashford Castle boasts a fantastic dining experience with sensational food and drink served by attentive and friendly staff. Guests raved about the delicious meals in both the Wilde Restaurant and Cullen's Cottage, while others enjoyed the music in the dining room. Although some vegetarian options were limited on the bar menu, the restaurant menu had excellent variety, especially seafood chowder which was deemed the best some guests had ever tasted. The quality of food was impeccable, exceeding everyone's expectations with the exception of a few instances where the filet steak was tough or wrongly cooked. The dinner menu was excellent, but some suggest that it could be expanded and improved. Nonetheless, all the choices for both lunch and dinner were great.
However, it's worth noting that the dinner cost included in the stay, €18 for a prawn cocktail and €42 for a small steak and chips, were perceived as quite pricey. Additionally, the staff in the dog-friendly area of the restaurant could be improved, as guests felt forgotten about there. Despite these shortcomings, overall, the dining experience at The Lodge at Ashford Castle is one to remember.
